Noctalgia - sky grief

The night sky

Shines bright, yet dark

Driving children inside their houses

Yet the night sky

Shines bright

Stealing stars from space

And beauty from nocturnal poems

Stars from the skies it steals

That were invisible during the day

Stars, it steals, and the dreams

Of youth that wanted to touch them

The night sky has been warped!

Changed, corrupted!

Made into a whimsical parody of what it used to be!

A parody that only shows a dull grey

Instead of the beautiful dark it used to be

The night sky

Shines bright

And grey

As it takes and takes

The shapes of constellations

The search of comets

The young eyes, freshly

Learning of celestials

It takes and takes

As it's own beauty it rips out

And lets it fall to the ground

Left behind, as it walks forward

To follow behind Progress
